Winterset Hollow by Jonathan Edward Durham

5.0

I started this book and almost DNFed it. Yet, I’m giving it 5 stars.

The beginning was a tad wordy for my liking and focused a lot on world building. So much that I was truly dissatisfied. I almost gave up but I pushed on— and I’m glad I did.

Durham’s imagination has to be wild because this is the most original story I’ve read in quite some time. It is dark in all the right ways.

Once the action starts, it doesn’t stop and it keeps you on your toes.

My absolute favorite thing about this book is the character development. We see the main character change in so many ways from beginning to end. Also, you empathize with ALL the characters.

While the beginning was wordy (to me), I feel that the author’s prose was beautiful.

I absolutely recommend for lovers of all things dark.
