verstappen 's review for:
Spearcrest Knight
by Aurora Reed
i absolutely adored this book. actually, i LOVED it.
sophie and evan are both adorable on their own and as a couple. i saw some reviews arguing that evan's motives to dump sophie as a friend weren't good enough, but considering that he was a teenager, it felt very plausible.
sophie sutton is not the usual heroine you see in bully romances, she was not begging evan to love her when he was being mean to her and she did not let evan or any other kid at spearcrest take her for granted just because she isn't rich.she was VERY clear with evan that she wouldn't want to be with him while he was being mean to her. she's smart, bright, kind and so intelligent.
evan knight was a bully to sophie. there's no excusing that or changing that fact. but homeboy is down baddddd for sophie, whenever we get his POV about her it's always talking about how beautiful she is, how smart she is, how she's too good for him and it's good that he knows that.
my only issue with this book was the ending. i wish we could've seen a bit more of sophie and evan together as a couple, what their lives looked like after sophie decided to forgive him and said yes to their relationship, sophie's life in harvard. if this book had been 50 pages longer, i would've given it five stars. but overall, it was fun to read and i'm assuming this is book one in a series, so i'm looking forward to what aurora is going to write.
