I love this book.
The way its written is something that I haven't seen in almost any other book, where the characters personally is seeping out of the words.
It captures what its like to be a teenager, seeing all the chaos, seeing everything and everyone around you flailing and failing. To know you should do something, but being unable to either because you cant or because you simply feel stuck.

Tori is the main character, but shes not a proactive protagonist. She'd rather not be there at all. But her relationship with michael, them realising each other flaws, being the only person that allows the other to be a real person for once, is beautiful.

I'm also really glad that this book allows for platonic development before immediately becoming romantic, and I think Michael/Tori is canonically Demi? So that relationship being developed as in depth as it is was perfect.

Soltaire encapsulated the exact feelings I had as a teen experiencing COVID, feeling like everyone is doing nothing, but also theres nothing you can do. Its the type of helplessness thats mundane, but thats whats so refreshing about the book.
