It's been one hell of a ride with this series, and what a way to end it than with the Doctor I knew would be the most impressive yet. Dr. Kaplan Fritz in Doctor Untouchable
For those who are curious, here's the rundown of the series:
Book One: Doctor Scandalous - A fake relationship romance (not read)
Book Two: Doctor Mistake - A best friend's older brother romance
Book Three: Doctor Heartless - A grumpy single dad next door romance
Book Four: Doctor Playboy - A second-chance, age-gap romance
Book Five: Doctor Untouchable - An Enemies-to-Lovers romance
We're back in Boston (Massachusetts) for the last time, and what a way to kickstart the end than with a bang. Not the kind you're thinking, you naughty little reader you. No. A bang to the hood of Kaplan Fritz' car. If you read the excerpt in the previous book, Doctor Playboy as I did, then you will know how the opening to Doctor Untouchable starts.
Bianca Barlow plows into Kaplan's life when fleeing her wedding to her now former-fiancee, after finding out about him and her cousin. Seeing no reason to stick around, she flees her wedding and runs out into the traffic, and directly onto the hood of Kaplan's car. Quite the entrance! Accepting in giving her a ride, Kaplan is bemused by the beautiful lady beside him and the story she spins while en route to where he plans to drop her off as per her instructions. During this brief, but far from boring time together, Kaplan is left unable to shake off thinking about her as he goes about his intended business pre-Bianca crashing onto his car.
Only, this is not the first time they've met. How they met the for the first time will remain a mystery until you pick up this read and discover it for yourselves. But, what a story has been spun until the point where we get to know when that first meeting was! You'll almost forget that there is a backstory to be told, because what happens in-between is far from boring, and oh so pleasurable!
Doctor Untouchable is a true Enemies-to-lovers romance in every sense of the word. It's a classic genre--while sometimes overused--if when used right, can produce more than satisfactory results. And, ladies and gentlemen, the results are indeed in. I have a case of 'got it bad for Doctor Untouchable'. Kaplan is your classic grumpy alpha that we all love to love. In a position such as he is--pun intended--, i.e. a doctor AND Bianca's boss, only mates him ten times as hot! A hundred, if I have to be truly honest. Slowly, of course, that hard, course exterior gives way to the soft, gentle giant underneath and that's all thanks, once more, to miss Bianca Barlow.
Bianca is a leading female that only comes up once in a literary blue moon as someone I can idolise as well as feel truly represented by with pride. Her character is 'bigger' than your average leading lady, and as someone myself of mid-size/plus size stature and shape, I can only thank J.Saman for writing such a character in Bianca which not only gave true, accurate description and representation for women like me, but also for doing so with respect and pride. Bianca's character aside from her physically descriptive looks, is already one to be admired for her determination and grit, but I didn't stop smiling and feeling happy inside until I turned that last page because of how she was described to us. Bianca and Kaplan--although fictional--reinforce the idea that no matter what your body shape/size is, it's love that matters and there will be someone out there who will love us for who we are and not what we look like. Kaplan is the hero every woman like myself, needs.
Although I'm really sad to have finished this series, I'm glad it ended with a novel truly worth the five star-rating. Well done, J.Saman. And thank you.
