A Death in the Parish by Richard Coles

4.0

The second book in the Canon Clement series we are reunited with the residents of Champton, he meet with Daniel and his mother Audrey as they are welcoming the new priest and his family as Champton and the parish of Upper and Lower Badsaddle are joined.
Not long after they arrived there is a murder in the village again and Daniel is called by Neil the local policeman to help break the devastating news to the family.
This is a really enjoyable read set in the 1980's I quickly became engrossed in the community and their horror at the killing. The characters are well written and I enjoyed the relationships and the detail of the Anglican Church and the role of the vicar in the close knit community.
Like the first book the murder was quite brutal and the investigation was thorough and twisty I was hooked and I cannot wait until book three.
