I have such mixed feelings about this story.
The dynamic is soooo OTT in the problematic alpha male way - know that going in. He’s all “I’ve been stalking you for years and times up - you and your kids are mine now, and there’s nothing you can do about it”, and she’s all “you’re crazy, I’m my own person and make my own choices…” but then major body betrayal. Did I read the whole thing? Yes. It’s like I had major body betrayal too, but of the eyes kept reading kind.
I did like how Ryker was undeniably devoted to his family though, including the kids. That was great. Probably would have liked this book more if (possible spoiler)they had both given a little bit, but instead it seemed like Calla just accepted that Ryker’s crazy ways led to the right outcome. .
A note on the audiobook - I wan’t a fan of the female narrator (the end of her sentences all went up in a weirdly dramatic way) so switched to the ebook.
