The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien

5.0

I'm going to update my previous thought on a four star read, to five. Simply because, on reflection, I imagine that so much of the work that I enjoy is a result of the Silmarillin coming into press. There wasn't a huge interest in fictional history and lore as a solo package. Sure, companion pieces existed in all forms of media for a long time, but the release of The Silmarillion really accelerated the interest and release of these kinds of work, and for that I am thankful, because I love them.
