American Sherlock: Murder, Forensics, and the Birth of American CSI
by Kate Winkler Dawson
I don’t read non-fiction often but picked this up after hearing about it on a podcast. The life of this person is fascinating and I had never heard of him before this. I would recommend it just for that, especially if you are interested in true crime or forensics. I have seen other reviews say the book was structured oddly and I would have to agree with that. There were some parts of cases that were brought up but wouldn’t be resolved until much later, after I had already forgotten about it. The book does drag in the middle as well and is a bit tough to get through. I gave it a higher rating than I probably would have only because Heinrich’s life really was interesting.
