Holding It Together: How Women Became America's Social Safety Net by Jessica Calarco

Jessica Calarco was my sociology professor at IU in the 2016-2017 school year. She was one of my favorite professors even though sociology was not my major. Through a series of very fortunate events I am now close friends with a sociology PhD who has helped me understand how truly cool Jessica Calarco is. This book gives voice, story, and statistics to a problem that is so pervasive in our country it is hard to drill down into it but Calarco did just that. Excellent read for sociologists and non-sociologists alike.
