I was brought up in a household of readers, so of course we all read! We're the lucky ones - so many don't have that background. However, if they're fortunate enough to have a teacher like Donalyn Miller then that love of reading can still be instilled.

This excellent book tells us what good readers already know - to become a good reader all you have to do is read, read, read. But what Miller does is write about how she beat the school reading system of class readers and worksheets designed to test, and to bore the brains out of the kids. For anybody who is despairing of how to get the children interested in reading, read this book! It's full of anecdote, practical suggestions, and massive amounts of inspiration.
