Venetia by Georgette Heyer

5.0

My best friend's mom loved Georgette Heyer and would let me borrow her books when I was a teenager. When I read that they were re-releasing Heyer's books, I had to read/re-read them. I am now a huge fan as well. You gotta love book mentors -- Thanks Mrs. MacLean! 😘

Venetia was wonderful! She did her duty, (her way), didn't give a hoot what other people thought, was well-read, independent, full of fun, and beautiful to boot. Definitely not the typical Regency character and member of the ton. If you want coquetry, go somewhere else.

There are loads of characters you will love to hate like Mrs. Scorrier, Edward Yardley, and Lady Steeple. Plenty of humour, wit, and plot twists.

I always know when it's time for a Heyer. She hasn't disappointed me yet.
