The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever
by Julia Quinn
Some hilarious dialogue, some promising ideas, but it never quite lives up to its promise. I was expecting to see more time spent with the heroine working to overcome the hero's pain and fear of loving again, but they seem to fall into it pretty easily, all things considered. Her fixation on hearing the actual "three words" uttered is a bit odd, considering all of his actions. At times it seemed as if the book couldn't figure out how fixed on propriety and societal rules it wanted to be; the rules seemed to change depending on what was convenient for the author. An entertaining quick read, but I really had hoped for more from it.
