Excellent premise, but the writing was just not that great. Some of the teen tropes were super on the nose too. Had the potential for a series: Chicana women team up with ancient Aztec goddess to restore equity and justice. I love it, and I’m here for it, but with this writing it’ll never reach its pinnacle - it’s true potential. I can’t decide if this was YA or Adult. 

I haven’t read anything else by V. Castro and I’m going to try one or two more, because I really love the subject matter.
