An interesting story about being a disaster refugee in a queernormative world inspired by Persia. I really enjoyed the queernormative society and the queer representation in the characters. My favorite part of the setting was the way the magic worked and how well-woven into the story it was ; definitely a strong suit of the book.
I did not really like the way the main conflict is resolved, but I think it was a solid reflection on mentor relationships and the upholding of personal values.
I read this as an audiobook, and I felt like the narrator did a great job !
