Persuasion by Jane Austen

4.0

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, as this is my first Austen novel. It starts out a little slow but gets more interesting in the second half. I especially love the twist that Mrs. Smith, who at first seems like an irrelevant character, reveals to Anne. Still, the story isn't nearly as interesting as the characters themselves are. Most of them are terrible but in a way that shows sarcasm and a sense of humor on Austen's part, and that makes them enjoyable. It's an unexpectedly good story despite the slower pace.
