Spells Trouble by Kristin Cast, P.C. Cast
2.0
What a mess the entire narrative was.
The sisters flipped back and forth from being generic twins to hating each other non stop. We didn't learn anything about the cat who can turn into a person until 80% in, and, worst of all, the Casts couldn't decide if we were playing in the melodrama of Practical Magic or doing Bonnie Bennet use magic to save the world.
The plot was not plotting until well past the half way point, and even then it's like they did a 180 here and there for no reason.
I don't typically have a problem with a third person narrative versus a first person, but I so wish they would have given Mercy and Hunter first person perspectives. Because they ARE good characters, they're just in a BAD story.
I have absolutely no desire to continue with this series, 2 stars for the characters of Mercy, Hunter and Emily, and the ideas that we got really good glimpses of...everything else would have been 1 star.
