Nice little book about "the Mother of Mexican Poetry," who is the lone resistor to the Army occupation of the University in 1968. She hides out in the woman's room, waits it for an unbelievable 13 days. During those days, she reflects on her childhood in Chile, her present situation in her bathroom cage, and her future life inlived. The tenses are all freely interspersed; and the loose, disassociative time sense is intriguing, and drives the novel, not to mention a jewelled heart beneath, that stops this from being strictly experimental fiction.
