The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson

4.0

This is definitely the best thing Jackson has written since AGGGTM. I think Bel was an interesting narrator to read from (if a little annoying at times). I liked her relationship with Carter and how she matured by the end of the novel. The relationship with Ash felt forced, I think Jackson was trying to repeat the Ravi and Pip dynamic but it just didn't work as well.

Completely unrelated to the actual plot of the novel: regionalisms. Brits do not understand America as well as they think they do, especially when they've literally never been to the place the novel is set. People in New England don't use the word "masshole" in real life like Bel and Carter do in one scene. No one would ever go to Storyland for their twelfth birthday, that's a seventh birthday max outing. I did like that Santa's Village got a shout out, I'd go there for my twenty-third birthday.
