A proper page-turner with some lovable and really funny (Hoshino!) characters, but feel like some of the loose ends would have been nice to have tied up. (
The fainting gas on the hill! I guess Nakata made it rain down on the others but why??
) That might be just my initial thoughts though, might change my mind after digesting the book for a while.
Some of the disturbing parts like
the whole Oedipus-thing
and especially
the cat torture scene
made me put the book away for several days in disgust but the middle part of the book and towards the end, especially the chapters following Nakata & Hoshino hooked me and were really enjoyable to read.
