Twas the Nightshift Before Christmas
by Adam Kay
This book would certainly be more shocking for someone who doesn't work in healthcare. But as a pharmacist, while I don't deal with the blood and gore I am kind of used to people's stupidity when it comes to their health and the broken medical system. There were also some heartbreaking stories in here that I wasn't prepared for. I also enjoyed how the author pointed out some injustices in the healthcare system like the way foreign doctors are treated.
I do wish the stories were more connected and I generally felt sorry for the author instead of amused. Maybe it comes down to the expectations one has for the book but for me, it felt more tragic than humorous.
