The story continues right where Obsession ends with the discovery of Detective Lori Wells' abduction. Jess Harris believes it's Eric Spears, who she accused of being the serial killer known as The Player. She's not only up against him but her own colleagues who aren't ready to trust her judgment.
The tension level is high with the fear that the serial killer is in Birmingham. With those connected to Jess at risk, the stakes escalated and the case took some gruesome and surprising turns. The ending was a little twisty, though not surprising but it didn't lessen my interest.
I enjoyed the story and am really looking forward to continuing this series, especially with things not resolved very neatly. And, Jess's relationship with Dan has everywhere to go.
