My Little Brother by Diane Saxon

5.0

Found this one in Prime Reading and loved the story and writing style.

A slow burn psychological thriller where all the questions of abandonment are finally given an explanation in the end.

Caryn is abandoned by her parents after her brother is found missing, sent away to live with her paternal grandmother until a series of mysterious notes drags her back home to uncover the reason for her little brother’s disappearance.

She, a ten-year old is blamed for her brother’s disappearance (by her own parents and the entire village). She is repeatedly taunted and made cognisant that she is unwelcome at the village and is meted out with several instances of bullying.

There was a period in the book towards the end, where it started to become a tad boring. But it started picking up pace soon after and culminated in a tense ending.

Loved this one!
