Grown Ups by Marian Keyes
4.0

Not my thing at all, I would've said. But after seeing Marian Keyes do an interview at a local literary festival, she became one of my favourite people in our Irish publishing world (and her Instagram persona is totally chortle-worthy!).

So after having accidentally fallen into listening to [b:Aisling Series #1 - #3|50179872|Aisling Series #1 - #3|Emer McLysaght|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1577752704l/50179872._SX50_.jpg|75116020] recently when I had a gap in my audiobook supply, I thought now that I'm turned on to Irish Romcom Fiction, why not turn to the queen of Irish comedies, and listen to Keyes.

Some of [b:Grown Ups|43779862|Grown Ups|Marian Keyes|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1571098425l/43779862._SY75_.jpg|68112060] is riotously funny, some of it is horny as get-out, and the rest is frankly shattering. Far from being a light-hearted Family Saga or Romantic Comedy, 'Grown Ups' confronts bulimia, specifically, with a reasoned intent, a candidness that I found really profound in places; as far from the kind of cutesy earnestness or grave solemnity that might have been expected.

Keyes' characters are irresistible, even the villains. I defy anyone to resist falling for at least one of this rowdy, messy, patchwork Clan Casey.
