The prologue was so dark and grim, that I really didn't expect to laugh out loud when the first chapter began. The little snippets of humour like that were definitely an enjoyable element to the story. The comparisons to [b:Pet Sematary|33124137|Pet Sematary|Stephen King|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1480069533s/33124137.jpg|150017] are pretty obvious, but it still manages to have a unique enough take, and at times it feels more like a thriller/crime mystery than horror. I felt it could actually have upped the horror/sister aspects more, and focused less on the present day, as that story was somewhat lacking. Without giving much away, there's a reveal at the end that I felt didn't have enough of a build up to be in any way shocking or interesting. But the pacing and characters are fleshed out well, and some parts are legitimately pretty creepy. I'll definitely read more from CJ Tudor.
