I need to rate this book in two ways because I listened to the audio and that needs its own rating. This is quite possibly the best duet narration I have EVER heard and I’ve listened to A LOT of audiobooks.
Book rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Narration rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Quantity of spice: 🌶️🌶️
Quality of spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (especially when read by Eric Nolan 🥵🥵)
**There were 5 total spicy scenes in this book & trust me when I say you need to consume them via audio!**
The actual Leather & Lark story was just alright. I didn’t love it as much as Butcher & Blackbird because honestly for the first 5 hours of it, it felt like nothing happened. Lark and Lachlan were in this fake marriage situation but nothing happened for the first half that made me even believe they would potentially actually fall for each other.
Lark is a “multiple deleter” just like her bestie, Sloane.. but she felt scared to tell Sloane? Made no sense considering she is the one person in the world who would understand! We also never got the actual story of what happened at Ashborne with Laurent Verdon, it was just kind of left up to our imagination.
The story with Abe felt kind of.. anticlimactic. Like his presence and killings were throughout the story but never felt primary and the conclusion was.. ehhh.
About half way in is when I really started to enjoy this book though. I guess around the time that there was inclination of something more between Lachlan and Lark. He started doing these really sweet things for her and we got to dig into some of her past.
Again, the narration was EXCELLENT! If you’re on the fence about the story, the narration alone is worth a listen.. they were just so good!!!!
