Daughters of the Deer
by Danielle Daniel
I really enjoyed the first half of this book. I think the character of Marie was really well done and her perspective was insightful. I think this book could have thrived more for me if we had continued on with Marie's life over time.
Instead we have some time jumps and more POVs which thinned out the story for me. It was hard to see Jean as her own character because I don't think enough time was spent with her. There is a lot of telling about how Jean is and not enough showing. She ends up feeling like a martyr instead of an actual person.
