My Maddie by Tillie Cole

5.0

My Maddie is a beautiful addition to the Hangmen series. Consider it a bridging story between what has been with the cult, and the next chapter of evil. Because oh, boy! Does the author ever do a great job of still including the cult into the stories.

My Maddie is the adorable tale of Flame and Maddie’s romance, while also bringing in more of Lil Ash, Flame’s younger brother. While in Souls Unfractured Maddie helped bring Flame out of his darkness, this was only a band aid solution. She provided him a means to manage his trauma, but not to move past it. This book touches more on his darkness after a situation throws him right into his past, deeper than before and only Maddie can bring him out of it. By the end, he has strategies to let go and move on from his trauma. It will always be there, and there are still hints of it by the end, but so much better than the beginning.

I have and always will love Flame. With his trauma, he is such a deep character. The counsellor in me just wants to help him. The reader in me falls in love with his approach toward Maddie.

The other plot point of this novel I will not say to avoid spoilers, but I did guess it would go that way for these two. I was so mad at Flame for his act of when it happened at the end, but in the very end, he came out on top and cared.

The parts of Lil Ash are showing that he’s really growing up. The story of him and Saffie is beginning to bloom more. While there was call books ago for his story, I never wanted it just yet. He wasn’t old or developed enough. I understand his story won’t be for another book or so, but I do believe anytime now is good. I also would like him to be a full member and not a prospect when he does get his book.

Tillie Cole wove another wonderful, touching, and beautiful story!
