This book is a lot of things.
Painful, emotional, beautiful, definitely strange.
I have a review on my blog over here: http://mlvreads.blogspot.com/2016/04/review-mud-vein-tarryn-fisher.html
Fisher said herself that this book isn't for everyone, and I get that. I honestly had no idea what to expect going in, but I had just THE BEST experience reading this. I will always cherish this book as one of my favorites. I am carrying it with me in my heart and mind every day. I'm actually compelled to read it again (and I might have read the first 10% over the last couple of days here and there). If it were a movie, I would've probably watched it 10 times by now. There's just something about it.
It was a right place, right time book for me.

Spoiler
I will admit that I was surprised at who had kidnapped Senna and Isaac, but it also totally makes sense. I know that this book appears to be a thriller about people trapped in a cabin trying to survive and make their way out, but the prison is definitely more psychological and emotional than physical. The situation they are in is so similar to the situation Senna is in at all times in her heart and her mind. Fisher nailed so many awful and beautiful feelings on the head. Ultimately, the prison was meant to bring peace to Senna...it just did it in a terribly illegal way. And yet you know it helped her. She leaves the book (and she is leaving life) at complete peace and knowing true unconditional love both for someone and from someone. I love that things didn't really "resolve" in the end. Some things are just not meant to be at that time. But I have no doubt that the thread between Senna and Isaac is stronger than anything and will always keep them together. It was a right place, right time book for me.
