Allegiance of Honour by Nalini Singh

4.0

This is a bit different from others in the series - even Singh says so in the preface - rather than focusing on a single couple we see each of the couples that have been in the previous novels and short stories and how they are going. There are a few plots going on too:

1) Naya, the half psy / half changling daughter of Lucas and Sascha is under threat from the shadowy Consortium.
2) A clue makes for a desperate search for one of the missing Black Sea changlings.
3) The psynet continues to rot from the inside out. Ivy and Sahara manage to work out why it is happening and even how to fix it - but implementing the solution will not be easy.
4) Xavier goes looking for Nina.
5) Mercy & Riley's pupcubs are born.
6) The brain implants the Human Alliance developed to keep the Psy out of their heads are starting to fail.

The overarching plotlines are what keep bringing me back to this series and I am so glad that even as this book closes several there are new ones being opened and the promise of this world gets more complicated with every book. It looks like in the next round of books human characters (who have largely been helpless bystanders) will start to play a greater role in the world.
