In the 2010s John Green box set, this book was always the one I was least interested in because 1) it was not purely a John Green novel, and 2) it had a gay character and I wasn't sure I wanted to read that (truly, who the fuck was that girl? couldn't be me), thus it sat on my shelf for more than a decade.
So I am here to announce that I actually REALLY liked it! The 2nd chapter did throw me off initially, but I warmed up to David's writing eventually. It's just a jarring transition from John's when you're not expecting it.
Is the book that good? I don't know, maybe my expectations were just low. I don't know! All I know is that I really really enjoyed it! 🤷♀️
