Broken Harbor
by Tana French
Review - Broken Harbor by Tana French (Dublin Murder Squad #4)
Okay let’s be real, when am I not going to give a great review of a Tana French book? French is the only author who can make me absolutely love a book while still absolutely hating the main character. Mick “Scorcher” Kennedy is nobody’s friend and that is apparent throughout the novel, but the crime and Scorcher’s past is so gosh darn compelling that I whipped through this book in only a few days. French has the uncanny ability to make the ordinary feel so deeply unnerving, and this particular novel made me think about and connect to my favorite horror story the Yellow Wallpaper (Frances Perkins Gilman) many times. There’s also some “Rear Window” elements as well that make for such a compelling read. I was in a terrible book slump but “Broken Harbor” pulled me right out of it. 4.5 stars easily.
