This is a dark gothic retelling of The Nutcracker, it is based in Russia and follows twins, Natasha and Clara, who are born on Christmas Day, and are blessed by their Godfather the Sorcerer Drosselmeyer. One twin, Clara, was blessed as light, and the other, Natasha, was 'blessed' as dark.
I really enjoyed this story, I liked the writing style and it had a nice pace to it, along with a good plot, there were some good twists and turns. I also liked the way Erika wove real historical events into the story in a way that didn't detract from the story!
