I think the tone of the novel suits the subject matter in a way I didn't expect. I think this is a story that I ought to read more than once - there seemed to be nuances Kafka was exploring in the consistently unreliable characters that I hadn't expected and I don't think I fully grasped. Certainly there were aspects of the story that came back in ways that were different from what I expected. The whole novel(?) Had a very well executed nightmarish quality without feeling divorced of meaning or organization.
