Glad I finally read this on audio. The narration by Russell Tovey was fantastic. Oscar Wilde has just a great way with words. It’s a beautifully written story about horrid people.
Lord Henry is the real villain here honestly. Yes, Dorian does bad things (though curiously, we’re only told in detail about 2 big things), but Lord Henry sets him on the path and cheers him on. He’s the worst.
Poor Basil. He definitely didn’t deserve his fate.
I will say, the middle gets bogged down a bit. There’s a seemingly interminable chapter about jewels and fashion and fabric and such that Dorian is really into that had my eyes crossing.
