Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto
5.0
In a world ruled by two warrior queens, a grand empire was built upon Phoenix Riders (legendary heroes who flew in the sky on wings of fire) until a war between two sisters tore it all apart.
Sixteen years after that, Veronyka is a war orphan who dreams of becoming a Phoenix Rider. After a shocking betrayal from her controlling sister, Veronyka sits out alone to find the Riders (even if it means disguising herself as a boy to join them).
Just as Veronyka finally feels like she belongs and settles into this new life, her sister turns up. And meanwhile, the new empire has learned of the Riders’ return and intends to destroy them once and for all.
Crown of Feathers is an epic fantasy about love’s incredible power to save or to destroy. I really enjoyed listening to this on audiobook through overdrive app. I did have the physical copy as well. I had the sprayed purple edge that cam from owlcrate sub box 📦
Parts of the story of Avalkyra Ashfire who was the last Rider queen is told at the beginning of each chapter. She would rather see her empire burn than fall into her sister’s hands.
This is a 5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.
