peacenluv 's review for:
The Emperor
by Ryszard Kapuściński, William R. Brand, Katarzyna Mroczkowska-Brand
challenging
dark
mysterious
fast-paced

i’m glad i’ve read a number of books on the subject of Selassie and this is only one of them, but what this loses in being defiantly unhagiographical it gains in its novellesque pace and lyrical use of language.
i see Selassie as a protagonist and victim of the 20th century and this book certainly gives a glimpse into his strange strange and apocalyptic downfall.

Graphic: Violence, War
