Shadow Scale
by Rachel Hartman
This book delves a lot deeper into the dragon and human mythology introduced in Seraphina, and it's much better for it. Whenever the book is focusing on those things, or on the dragon war, or the ityasaari problem, it's awesome. Whenever the book focuses on Seraphina's love life, I did not care. Honestly, I usually love a bit of romance in a book, but I found that this didn't seem authentic to me. Luckily, the relationships that are most important in the book are between Seraphina and her Uncle and Seraphina and Abdo. Overall, a great sequel.
