Swimming Destiny by Tamsin Baker

lighthearted fast-paced

1.0

I am normally a read-series-in-order type of person, but I started with the 3rd book in this trilogy anyway because I’m still following my Aquatic/Nautical reading theme. I’m always excited to find MMF ménage romance and figured if I liked Swimming Destiny then I could always go back and read the first two books. Unfortunately, this was a bit disappointing. The prose was merely passable, the dialogue was stilted, the characters were one-note, and the sex scenes were mechanical. It lacked any depth or feeling. I prefer romances (yes, even erotic romances) that are more fleshed out, with well-developed characters. Without that, it was impossible for me to become emotionally invested or titillated, and the whole book fell flat.

Endnotes: MMF, paranormal, contemporary, aquatic shifters, virgin heroine, fated mates, straight for you, 3rd-person triple POV, novella (25k words)
