This book was a slow burn for the plot. I didn't care about the story or the characters until page 236! So hang in there, it will happen. Once I reached that point it was hard to put the book down.
I have so many feelings about this book. The relationship between the 2 sisters is touching and frustrating. Their world is very small. Sometimes the story feels too modern for the time period but I tried to remember it wasn't a story about the elite class of the time so the same societal manners/rules may not have applied. How characters did not end up pregnant was a little beyond reality. There was a lot this book was trying to grapple with and make you care about. Sometimes it hit right, sometimes it didn't.
