Wow. What a book. As someone that’s not into the classics, this kept me hooked, even with my knowledge going as deep as Icarus and the Minotaur.
From the beginning, I already felt for Circe and her family situation.
Then she got exiled and started learning to stand on her own two feet but kept getting trampled over. That was frustrating but I get it, and at some point I learnt to admire that.
Then a bunch of stuff with Hermès, Daedalus, and Odysseus happened. It was interesting.
Then the pregnancy arc happened. Not a fan of pregnancy but the bits on motherhood were very nice to read.
Then yeah the fact that she ends up with the pre-existing son of her baby daddy is interesting but I’ll take it.
It did not enjoy this book as much as my other 5 star books so this is the best I can give as I have nothing bad to say.
This book is almost 400 pages long but reading it feels like a thousand, and I’m still able to remember most of the stories. The writing is really beautiful, I’ll reread the last chapter from time to time.
