The Christmas Season by Ally Sinclair

3.0

3.5 stars.

I didn't realize until I was over halfway done that this was part two in a series. While I at no time felt lost or confused while reading this, making it a standalone, I think I would've connected more with Emma's story had I read the predecessor first.

The concept is fantastic. I love the idea of a modern Regency season where people are encouraged to let go of the instant gratification of online dating and seek meaningful connections.

But I felt like the season itself played very little role in the story. And having four couples to get together (or stay together in the case of Emma and Tom) in a 300ish page book means little time with each of them. I would love to have seen more details about the season events and the story split into two books: one focusing on Emma and Hope's stories, the other focusing on Grace and Connie's.

Regardless of it not really clicking with me, this was a sweet and very quick read.

Thank you Netgalley for an early copy in exchange for my honest review.
