I typically read a book from this genre once a year at Christmas. Keeping in mind that this isn't my typical read, I did enjoy it. Had I not been so busy, this would have been a quick read. The characters are enjoyable. Enough backstory is present to guide the book but avoids being redundant. I've been disappointed by books from this genre in the past but I'd recommend this or let a friend borrow it any Christmas.
