The writing was very pretty, and the atmosphere and setting was moody and bewitching, in line with the themes of the book. But the characters had no depth for me, and I found the plot really confusing. Storylines and characters were dropped and the ending felt so incomplete. I was not invested and the second half was a bit of a slog to get through.
