Hannah suffers from depression and anxiety and she hasn't had a job she enjoys since she destroyed the car of the man who hurt her sister with a cricket bat, now she's not legally allowed to work in public childcare.
Nate is a widower with 2 kids under the age of 7 and has moved back to Ravenswood to help care for his mother who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, he's frazzled and doesn't like any of the nannies he's met so far. His brother Zach who is friends with Hannah suggests her as a possibility.
She becomes his nanny, it's only slightly stressful to work for your first crush right? Hannah's head is a very pessimistic, insecure place to be, but I love her and her straight forward approach to things. Nate is essentially a giant teddy bear with insomnia, their late night hang outs are very sweet with one caring for the other depending on who needs what even before the relationship becomes physical. Hannah is also super shy about sex, to the point were she can and will consistently psyche herself out of having an orgasm which was a cool perspective to see.
