This is the 6th book in the "Jane Yellowrock" series. Jane is a skinwalker and newly bonded to the Master (Vampire) of the City of New Orleans. She's not happy about that latest development and takes a side job in Natchez, Mississippi. Here, roughly 120 people have gone missing and it's believed to be the work of the Naturaleza vamps ("bad" vampires). The vamps that Jane encounters are not like the ones she's used to. These vampires are stronger, faster, immune to silver and seem to regenerate much faster. Also thrown into the mix is the appearance of Jane's childhood "friend", Misha, who goes missing and leaves her sick daughter, Charly, in Jane's care.

With having NOT read the previous books, I'll admit that I was a little lost at times. There were references to earlier events and situations that I didn't completely follow. It wasn't enough to take away from the current story, but I definitely feel like I need to go back and read books #1-5. If you're a fan of the "Anita Blake" or "Mercedes Thompson" series, I think you'll enjoy this one!
