I can see why a lot of people like this book and it gets recommended, but I had a hard time connecting with it. I barely felt emotions when reading it other than cringing and that's because of how far some things were pushed. To me it felt that it was pushed past the line of what is believable. I know it's not based on a true story, but the amount of trauma Jude went through felt that the author was trying too hard and it ruined it for me.
I did like reading about the relationships, but I wish it hadn't started as of we would get to follow all 4 characters because it left me wanting to know more about Malcolm and JB.
I won't say I didn't get emotional because some parts got to me, but it just did not hit me the way it did others. I'm not upset that I read it at least once.
