I flew through this novel! I was so invested in it that I forgot the time and stayed up pretty late to finish it. And I don’t do that for every book.
I loved the characters, their banter and relationship - not only between Olive and Adam but also the relationship Olive has with her friends. It was so supportive and loving, I just couldn’t get enough of it.
Also, the representative of demisexuality and mental health issues were in my opinion well done, as it made the characters more round and relatable.
The university setting was also done in a way that the book did not read too young as I would classify it as adult romance. And though I don’t know much about science/biology, I found Olive and Adam‘s research field pretty interesting and not too overwhelming as a reader with little understanding for the field of study.
I was a bit sceptical of the novel because of the hype surrounding it, but it really lived up to it. I just loved it! I laughed, almost-cried and did not want it to end. I‘m really looking forward to future work by the author.
