One Shot by Lee Child
4.0
So, Lee Child is an amazing author within the thriller/tough guy/detective genre. I've read two of his books and they keep you going from beginning to end.
Why four stars? It's like trying to give five stars to the best breakfast place you've ever been. Yes, it's the best breakfast, but is it the best meal? No. It's limited because of what it is. Damn good, but limited.
I have a few nits to pick. He never loses, and never gets hurt. That's the genre, though. That's who he is. He always gets laid, but that's who he is. He leaves at the end like the lone ranger, but that's who he is.
The women he hangs out with are multi-dimensional and intelligent. I like that.
Here's my main complaint. The bad guys make things too complicated when they would have been better off keeping it simple and staying low, never attracting the attention of super detective Reacher. But there wouldn't be a book, then.
I'll probably keep picking one up a couple times a year for good, violent entertainment.
