I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman

5.0

"that’s why people get into fandom and bands and stuff. they just want to hold on to something that makes them feel good. even if it’s all a big lie."

being someone with so much passion for books, tv shows, and music myself, i can safely say every portrayal of online friends, fandom culture, celebrity life, mental health, and self-discovery is done very thoughtfully accurate. not to mention seeing myself in angel rahimi, a hijabi muslim, made me tear up the representation is so diverse and well written. all of the characters felt so real, flawed, and authentic i feel like i would take a bullet for each one of them.

to be honest, this is like a fanfiction but waayyyy better. thank you to alice oseman for writing such an honest book. this will be hold so close to my heart.
