hollowman777 's review for:
Dragons of Autumn Twilight
by Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman
I have to be honest is this review. I had a tremendous love for the dragon-lance books as a child. As a man on a quest to read the best of literature I find this book lacking in just about every possible way.
Tanis, one of the main characters is bitter, self loathing, grabbling with doubt at his every move which makes for an unlikable and predictable character.
Just about every character in the story comes from royal lineage, whether they know it or not. And the fitting of characters and their titles such as Cleric, knight, magic user all are quite obvious to fill out a DND sheet .
They story read with adult eyes doesnt do justice to fantasy lit. Instead what the adult reader winds up with is a story that is predictable from page one and does very little to enhance the suspension of reality by creating a realistic world for the reader to fall into.
Predictable, convenient, unlikable main characters, unrealistic character encounters in the created world of Krynn, and childish writing methods all lead this to a one star review, however, the fantasy world of Krynn makes up for the terrible and predictable plot lines of this novel.
